BREAKING: 11th Circuit Stays Our Heartbeat Bill

Joshua Edmonds • Sep 27, 2021

I know it’s late, but this update was urgent and I wanted to make sure I typed this out and sent it to you as soon as I could. Our team is in Washington, DC right now meeting with our national pro-life coalition and our pro-life Congressional leaders like Marjorie Greene and Andrew Clyde, so please pardon any typos as I rush to type this from my hotel room.

The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals announced tonight that they were issuing a “Stay” on Georgia’s Heartbeat Bill pending the outcome of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health decision that the Supreme Court will rule on in June of next year.

It may be tempting to feel defeated by this, but I’ve been telling the media and our supporters since last week that we believed the 11th Circuit would do exactly this. This is a huge win for us - and I’ll briefly explain why.

By waiting until the Dobbs ruling in June, the 11th Circuit is communicating what we said all along: Roe v. Wade is no longer a matter of settled law, and the Court foresees that the Supreme Court may very well deal a fatal blow to Roe as early as next summer.

But that means that we may very well see our Heartbeat Bill go into effect as early as next summer.

That means that, from now until June, we need your help to get Georgia post-Roe ready.

As the largest and most influential pro-life group in Georgia, we’ve been leading the fight to build a pro-life culture in policy, education, and elections. But there is still much to be done, and we need your help.

Can you chip in just $5, $25, $50, or $100 to help us continue bringing the pro-life message around the state and to pass more pro-life legislation in 2022?

We have led the fight to pass historic pro-life legislation over the last two years, launched the largest pro-life education campaign in Georgia history, and spent more money than every other conservative organization combined to re-elect a pro-life majority in 2020. And we have more ambitious plans that will make history and we cannot wait to announce to you in the coming months. Plans that will position Georgia to be the first pro-personhood, post-Roe state in the nation.

Be praying for us as we continue our work. We’re the only pro-life group in Georgia who maintains a vigilant presence in Washington to provide leadership at a national scale, so be praying that God continues to provide for us and protect us as we seek to be His hands and feet.

Blessings on you, my friend!
