UNDER THE GOLD DOME
The heartbeat of Georgia’s pro-life movement was strong under the Gold Dome as Georgia’s Legislative Session came to a close last week.
This session, Georgia Life Alliance worked alongside courageous legislators and ministry co-laborers to advance policies that protect life, support mothers, and strengthen families - and we saw God deliver victory after victory.
Pro-Life Wins
:
-
HB 350- strengthened Georgia’s Safe Haven Law, expanding safe surrender options to include allowing ambulance services and safety devices to protect vulnerable infants and ensuring mothers facing crisis have access to safe, life-saving options for their infants.
-
HB 1118- expanded support for new mothers by providing paid maternal leave for eligible state employees, reinforcing a culture where choosing life is supported - not penalized.
-
HB 1275- advanced ethical medical standards by ensuring stem cell research in Georgia does not rely on cells derived from aborted babies.
-
SB 570- advances protections for vulnerable populations and reinforces a broader commitment to combating sex-trafficking, protecting human dignity, and accountability in Georgia law.
-
HB 1409- strengthens protections for children, extending those protections to the child in the womb
, and enhances mandatory reporting and intervention standards, ensuring earlier action when children are at risk.

On March 16th,
The Haven
was honored in the Georgia House with
House Resolution 1728
, presented by Representatives Park Cannon and Chuck Efstration.
The Haven is a maternity supportive housing residence in Gwinnett County operating under GLA’s 2022 flagship legislation,
Betsy’s Law
. The Haven serves pregnant and new mothers by providing them and their babies with a safe place to live, stability, and real support during pregnancy and beyond.
The Haven, and other Betsy’s Law homes like it across the state, serve as a shining example of what it means to be a Culture of Life.

On March 12th, and alongside Georgia’s annual March for Life, Senate leadership honored the life and legacy of Claire Bartlett by presenting her family with
Senate Resolution 570
,
recognizing her years of faithful leadership and tireless work defending life in our state.
As GLA’s former Executive Director, Claire helped strengthen the pro-life movement in Georgia, and her legacy continues to live on in the work we do today. Georgia Life Alliance is proud to continue that mission - educating, advocating, and working every day to build a culture where every life is welcomed and protected.

Despite the chill in the air, hundreds of Georgians gathered in Atlanta on March 12th for the annual
March for Life,
standing together united in the truth that every human life has value and deserves protection. Seeing so many students, families, pastors, and advocates united for life was a powerful reminder that this movement is growing - and the next generation is ready to boldly carry it forward.
Speakers urged the crowd to defend unborn children, support mothers in crisis, and press forward with what keynote speaker David Bereit called ‘renewed conviction in the post-Roe era’.

| ELECTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITY
|

|
On Tuesday of this week, two GLAC certified pro-life candidates
won their special run-off elections! Congressman-elect Clay Fuller in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, filling Marjorie Taylor Greene’s vacant seat; and State Senator-Elect Lanny Thomas filling Colton Moore’s vacant seat in GA senate district 53. These results continue to show us that GEORGIA IS PRO-LIFE
!
With election season well under way, Georgia Life Alliance Committee has continued certifying pro-life candidates
in their upcoming elections.
Being Certified Pro-Life Means:
- Candidates have been thoroughly vetted on life issues
- They have demonstrated a clear commitment to protecting life
- They can be trusted to stand firm under pressure
We have already certified candidates
in races from U.S. Senate all the way down to local County Commission seats across the state and will continue doing so as we approach the upcoming special elections and critical primary elections.
These races will shape the future of pro-life policy in Georgia - and informed voters make the difference. Be sure to stay tuned for upcoming certification announcements on our social media pages
and emails!

LIFE in the News
March brought intense media attention to Georgia - and with it, a wave of misinformation. GLA took a leading role in responding to:
-
The tragic murder case in Camden County
– now that the story has hit the mainstream media (or fake news media, as some would call it), we have become the go-to source for commentary for outlets like EWTN
, Associated Press, Washington Times, PJ Media, LiveAction, AJC, LifeNews, and more. Our national partners have asked us to continue to lead the narrative so they can follow alongside us in presenting the facts in tragic cases.
-
The death of Kermit Gosnell, who’s crimes remain a stark reminder of the horrific consequences suffered when a society devalues human life.
GLA has remained clear and consistent: We will tell the truth. We will correct misinformation and rebuke the outright lies. And we will NOT allow the fear-mongering pro-abortion media to define this issue. Georgians deserve reporting that is honest, clear, and unbiased.

With the legislative session behind us and Primaries elections ahead, we remain focused on what matters most: advancing a culture of life in Georgia through policy, partnership, and people. Thank you for standing with us in this work. Every conversation, every prayer, every donation, and every bold action moves the mission forward.
If you or your organization have an upcoming event, ministry update, or a pro-life perspective to share, submissions
for next month’s edition of The Pulse with GLA
are open through April 28th. We welcome opportunities to highlight the pro-life work happening across our state.
Together, we are making an impact that will last for generations.
Together for Life,
Elizabeth Edmonds
Executive Director
